Talks: Matt Capobianco, Josh Pondick, Dan Konstantinovsky
MC: Josie Jacob-Dolan, Matt Cook
Location: Yale Science Building, Yale University
Date: November 16th, 2019

Matt Capobianco is a 2nd year PhD student at Yale University studying Chemistry. In his research, Matt uses lasers to study chemical materials that are involved in making solar cells. In his talk, Matt talks about his research, and how we can work towards becoming carbon neutral by developing products that create and use hydrogen instead of common fossil fuels. Matt did his undergrad at Marist College, and in his free time Matt is an avid sports fan who loves to play golf.

Josh Pondick is a 3rd year PhD student in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Yale University. In his talk, Josh discusses two-dimensional nanomaterials: What they are, and how we can use them for future energy applications. Josh did his undergrad at Bowdoin College in Maine, and in his free time, Josh enjoys watching sports, playing video games, and taking hikes with his beloved dog Lester.

Dan Konstantinovsky is a member of the molecular biophysics and biochemistry department at Yale University where he is in his second year of his PhD. In his research, Dan uses computers to study how biological molecules interact with water, and also how water affects biological molecules. In his talk, Dan discusses his own work, how computers are used in research fields such as physics and chemistry, and how computation and experiment can be used together to create better science. Dan did his undergrad at Haverford college. In his free time, Dan enjoys playing the piano, writing his own music, and taking care of his plants.
